In December of 2019, Michigan became the first Midwest state and the tenth U.S. state to legalize cannabis for adult-use, based on Proposal 1 passed by voters on November 6th, 2018.

In under a year, Michigan has grown to exceed $1 billion in cannabis revenue, making it the fifth highest-grossing state for cannabis sales. , becoming the tenth state in the U.S. to do so. Albeit, Michigan’s medical cannabis market has been legal and operating since 2008, which partly explains its meteoric rise in the legal cannabis scene. .
